Summary:Business executive and entrepreneur Ronald Bruce Jewell was born on December 30, 1946 in Newark, New Jersey. In 1966, Jewell graduated from Central High School in Goochland County, Virginia. From 1966 to 1969, Jewell attended Virginia Union University. He helped found the Esquire Club, found on HBCU campuses. From 1969 to 1972, he worked for the National Urban League as marketing manager of a training program for professional house cleaners. In 1972, he founded Jewell Industries, a residential and construction site cleaning service. In 1973, Jewell expanded to include commercial cleaning. In 1993, Jewell Industries was certified under the Small Business Administration's Section 8(a) program. In 1994, Jewell Industries included a floor services division. In 1990, Jewell established the African American Trading Company (AATCI), employing one thousand African farmers to grow and harvest chili peppers. His company, was recognized as one of the top janitorial firms in the nation.
