This study examined the prevalence of fixed and growth mindsets in senior nursing faculty. The results indicated the prevalence of growth mindsets in senior nursing faculty was low which could be contributing to the theory-practice gap. This study demonstrated the potential for development of the growth mindset culture in nursing faculty as one innovative approach to decrease the theory-practice gap in nursing and offer promise for much needed educational transformation. Factors associated with the growth mindset endorsement were also examined. Mentorship may be integral for growth mindset cultivation. Cultivation of a growth mindset culture requires: (1) goal diversification; (2) a sense of belonging in the classroom; and (3) proper praise and feedback.
