Description
Summary:Before Margaret Fell joined the Quaker movement it was a purposely-unstructured movement focusing on disrupting English Society without a unified message . Ministers preached to the general public as moved by the inner Light, and their messages tended to use militant apocalyptic language. By the time Fell died in 1702 there was a controlled public image of a pacifist, united Quaker community enacting a distinct strategic plan. Fell served as a transitional leader, moving the movement to one of strict individualism to one that could survive multiple generations of leaders.
