Summary:Harriett Mounton Bartlett (HMB), author and social work educator, was affiliated with Massachusetts General Hospital (1921-1942) and was a professor of Medical Social Work at Simmons College at Simmons College Graduate School of Social Work, Boston (1947-1957). Included in this collection are course and teaching materials, reasearch and reference materials, National Association of Social Work committee materials, personal travel diaries and correspondence, Bartlett family photogrpahs, drafts and final versions of HMB's six monographs, and numerous papers and articles. The collection documents the personal and professional life of HMB, as well as the development of the fields of medical social work and social work education, to which HMB was a major contributor. Also included is correspondence with William E. Gordon, Beatrice Saunders, and Chauncey Alexander relating to the theoretical development of the social work profession.
