Summary: | Harriett Moulton Bartlett (HMB), author and social work educator, was affiliated with Massachusetts General Hospital (1921-1942) and was a professor of Medical Social Work at Simmons College Graduate School of Social Work, Boston (1947-1957). Included in this collection are course and teaching materials, research and reference materials, National Association of Social Workers committee materials, personal travel diaries and correspondence, Bartlett family photographs, drafts and final versions of HMB's six monographs, and numerous papers and articles. The collection documents the personal and professional life of HMB, as well as the development of the fields of medical social work and social work education, to which HMB was a major contributor. Also included is correspondence with William E. Gordon, Beatrice, Saunders, and Chauncey Alexander relating to the theoretical development of the social work profession |
