The records also document the personal life of the magazine's founder, Bertha Mahony Miller (BMM), a graduate of Simmons College, and her influence on the field of children's literature. The records include office files, correspondence, illustrations, photographs, clippings and printed material related to the Bookshop for Boys and Girls (1916-36) (founded by BMM and operated under the auspices of the Women's Educational and Industrial Union), The Horn Book Magazine (1924-67) and The Horn Book, Inc. (1936-67)
