Description
Summary:Edward Hopper{8217}s enormous output of oil and watercolor paintings has somewhat obscured his outstanding etchings and drypoints, most of which were made during his formative years from 1915 to 1923. This book reproduces all seventy-six of Hopper{8217}s prints. Many have never been published before, including five early monotypes from 1902 when Hopper studied with Robert Henri and three linoleum block-print greeting cards from the 1920s. Also included are all of the artist{8217}s extant preparatory drawings. In her text, Gail Levin traces Hopper{8217}s development as an artist and discusses the diverse influences on his work in this medium.
